Implanted embryo makes 12,500 euro to UK Buyer

The third European Wagyu Gala took place in Muenster, Germany 8-9th September 2017. The auction on the Saturday attracted a lot of interest from breeders throughout Europe with a top price of 30,000 euro for the first lot in the ring, the young bull Mr Fuji Misako (DOB 05.05.2016). The last-born calf of the noted cow Misako FB5768, described as ‘the best brood cow for marbling outside of Japan,’ with her high proportion (47%) of Tajima bloodlines, Mr Fuji Misako reached a final bid of 30,000 euro.
UK breeders Wyndford Wagyu, Chadwell Park Farm, Newport,
Shropshire, purchased four heifers including the June 2016-born Miss Special 058 for 12,200-€ sired by Takamichi Doi and out of a Fukutsuru-sired dam and the November 2016-born Ms Sanjirou 128 by World K’s Sanjirou at the 11,500€ mark. As the final catalogued lot, they snapped up an unborn calf for 12,500-€ being the first-choice embryo calf from 6 pregnancies sired by the ‘International Bull of Mystery’ Kenhenafuji and out of the cow Ms Tanitsuru.
29 of the 31 catalogued lots found homes to an average of 9,000 euro with 12 packets of embryos comprising 41 embryos in total realising a 100% clearance with UK buyer Wyndford Wagyu, Chadwell Park Farm, Newport,
Shropshire, purchasing the top price at 2,200 euro.
A third of purchasers came from outside Germany representing Denmark, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, England & Scotland.
